Mindful fishing

The sea is where we come from.
Caring for it is our craft.

In Yucatán, octopus is caught the way it has been for generations: by gareteo. The boat drifts with the wind, trailing lines with natural bait from bamboo poles called jimbas. No nets and no compressors. Each octopus is brought aboard by hand, one by one.
